HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Agama River Camp was started by Jonathan and Monique Leach and developed into a wonderful oasis. They started with a simple group of campsites which included well decorated and spotlessly clean ablution blocks partly open to the skies! They then added ten rustic style chalets with modern amenities and comforts inside. The main buildings incorporate a cosy bar, a friendly restaurant which serves excellent meals and a large viewing deck for sunsets.
THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Agama River Camp has recently been converted to offer accommodation in comfortable and spacious chalets. Both the Standard Chalet and Deluxe Chalet are free standing and ensures privacy. All chalets have the option of sleeping on the roof. This offers our guests the opportunity to spend a night under a starry Namib Desert sky or be used as an elevated vantage point from which to watch the colours change on the Namib Naukluft Mountains when the sun bids farewell to another stunning day. To reflect this change from campsite to a lodge the name has changed to Agama Lodge.
Agama Lodge is rated as one of the top ten speciality lodges in Sossusvlei on Tripadvisor.

Our Name
The name “Agama” is derived from the colourful family of lizards that frequent the drier and open savannah regions of Africa. This was also the first creature to make itself visible when we entered the old farm gate, it seemed fitting to indulge this inquisitive reptile in the name sake. The brightly coloured lizard will often be seen around the lodge in both animal and art forms.
Our Team
Agama has a dynamic, energetic, diverse and very enthusiastic team built in the form on a puzzle where all aspects of the lodge entwines to provide the most exceptional service to our guests.
