Where the Spirit of Sossusvlei lives

Sossusvlei Activities

To enhance your experience in the Sossusvlei region we offer a host of activities at Agama Lodge, some of which are not available at other accommodation establishments like Sossusvlei Lodge, simply because of our location.

Having our own private game reserve as our backyard means that we can share with you a full desert experience. Some of the advantages this brings, such as breathtaking 360 degree scenery, don’t even require you to move from your sunlounger by the pool.

On our Guided Sossusvlei day trip, you’ll find yourself immersed in the unparalleled beauty of Namibia’s desert landscape, surrounded by the iconic red sand dunes that have become a symbol of the region.

As you set out on this remarkable journey, be prepared to be awed by the diverse flora and fauna, as well as the breathtaking geological wonders that await you.

Board our all-terrain safari vehicle at reception for a relaxing scenic drive on the Lodge’s private reserve in the Namib-Naukluft National Park where wildlife such as Springbok, Oryx, Blue Wildebeest, Kudu, Mountain Zebra, Giraffe, Ostrich and Warthog can be seen along with a variety of desert flora.

Experience the magic of nature’s grand finale as the sun gently descends, painting the sky with glorious hues of orange and pink.

Join us for an early morning drive to the top of a nearby dune called ‘Little Sossus’. Sit back and let the sun’s rays embrace you as you watch the sunrise and be enchanted by the awakening desert coming to life.

Immersed in the tranquility of this remarkable landscape we’ll coax you into the day with a warming cup of fresh coffee, tea or hot chocolate and a couple of traditional bush rusks.

There’s very few better ways to kick off a day in Africa.

Embark on a thrilling moonlit adventure with one of our experienced guides who will introduce you, not only to the mesmerising display of celestial objects overhead in the Namib sky… but also to the mysterious world of scorpions at your feet.

You can also find out some ideas of why scorpions glow under ultraviolet light.

Offering guests a truly unforgettable evening under the vast Namibian sky. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Naukluft mountains, this outdoor dining experience combines natural beauty with authentic hospitality.

our guide will lead the way, carrying fresh drinking water and sharing insights about the region’s unique flora,  including the striking Quiver Trees, standing like natural sculptures against the morning sky.

The climb requires moderate fitness and sturdy hiking shoes, but the effort is richly repaid: from the mountain’s crest, guests are treated to breathtaking panoramic views across the vast landscape, often framed by crystal-clear skies in the calm of early morning.
